EINSTEIN IS NOT THE END

The Techmania Science Center has recently run the second year of the contest Einstein Is Not the End.
Would you like to taste a see-through Coca-Cola or marble milk?
To find out how a microwave oven works?
And admire a flying tea bag?

All that and much more you could see in the final of the contest Einstein Is Not the End. Three teams from elementary schools and four teams from secondary schools were chosen for the final. Two- to four-member teams were fighting for positions on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Pilsen municipal hall. All participants demonstrated unusual experiments and gave amusing presentations. Therefore, it was hard for the jury to decide.

Everybody probably has some idea of how a microwave oven works. However, when sixth-class pupils professionally explain it to you, you definitely will learn something more. All those present were also surprised by the experiment with Coca-Cola. The team from Kladruby demonstrated filtration and Coca-Cola changed into a transparent liquid with the same taste as the original. The team from Gymnázium Stříbro brought magic butterflies and presented a few experiments showing how the center of gravity can be used.

The winners of the first category Physics Around Us (for the pupils from 6th to 9th class of elementary schools and corresponding classes of 8-year grammar schools) and of the second category Experiments with Simple Tools (for the students from 1st to 4th class of secondary schools) were selected by the judges:

- Miroslav Randa, from the Department of General Physics, UWB Pilsen
- Michal Šindelář, Techmania Science Center, trustee of Regionální technické muzeum, o.p.s.
- Magdaléna Čížková, Administration of the City of Pilsen
